The leatherback turtle is the largest of the sea turtles and is distinguished by its smooth shell without rigid scales, covered with leathery skin. It has powerful fins that allow it to travel long distances in the world's oceans. Mainly carnivorous, it feeds on jellyfish and other gelatinous organisms. Although impressive in size, it is unfortunately endangered due to marine pollution and the destruction of its nesting sites.
